Alpha Epsilon Delta National Chapter
Alpha Epsilon Delta is the National Health Preprofessional Honor Society dedicated to the encouragement and recognition of excellence in preprofessional health scholarship. The Society welcomes all students engaged in the pursuit of a professional development, provides a forum for students with common interests, and extends a program of service to benefit the college/university community.
The birth of AED occurred in the spring of 1926 when Dr. Sidney A. Mitchell discussed his idea of forming an honorary fraternity at the University of Alabama with fellow premedical students and Dr. Jack Montgomery, professor of organic chemistry and premedical advisor. The first formal meeting was held April 28th, 1926 at Tourney Hall lecture room; 15 pre-medical students attended. The first initiation of new members was held on March 4th, 1927 following the election of eight students. Today, about 200 chapters from across the nation are present.

Alpha Epsilon Delta - California Kappa Chapter
Dominican University of California is the first AED honor society in Northern California and now joins the ranks with UCLA (California Theta chapter), UCSD (California Eta chapter), UCI (California Epsilon chapter), SDSU (California Zeta chapter), and USC (California Alpha chapter). It first began as a health professionals club fall of 2015, run by pre-medical students who wanted a focused support group to guide each other through undergraduate studies and graduate applications. By spring 2017, it had grown into California Kappa Chapter, inducting 30 members.
Students at the chapter have met the requirements of a 3.3 and above GPA, completed at least Organic Chemistry 1, and have attended Dominican University of California for 3 semesters. Any student not eligible for national membership due to grades or student tenure are invited to become affiliate members of their schools’ chapter and expected to apply for national membership upon eligibility.
AED members receive: (a) binder with examples of strong resumes, personal statements, letters of recommendation, and other key information for PA and medical school applications and (b) Integrative advising from our faculty and student services administrator.
